Playing Catch-Up

As I stated in my last blog post, I planned on catching-up on a couple television series' that I heard good things about - Justified and White Collar.

So far, there is one season of Justified (currently finished its second season on FX Network) on DVD and two seasons of White Collar (currently in its third season on USA Network). I finished all three seasons of the shows combined in three days.

Justified, FX Networks
JUSTIFIED - Timothy Olyphant (that name alone ought to be enough to make anyone want to watch this show) plays U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens, who is reassigned from Miami to his childhood home in the poor, rural coal-mining towns in Eastern Kentucky. To me, this show seems to be more of a "guy" show, but it does have enough romance to keep the girly me happy. Justified has also received some recognition lately in nominations from the Emmy Awards and the Television Critics Association Awards.

White Collar, USA Network
WHITE COLLAR - A white collar criminal (Matt Bomer) agrees to help the FBI (Tim DeKay and others) catch other white collar criminals using his expertise as an art and securities thief, counterfeiter and racketeer. This show has a little bit of everything. Crime, drama, romance, comedy...etc. No recognition from award shows, but definitely a fun show to watch.

I think, of the two, White Collar is more my favorite, but I will definitely continue watching both for a while.

What to Watch (Week of 6/27)

I've decided that every Monday I'm going to [try to] make a list of what I will be watching or what is worth watching that week on TV.  The weeks will run Monday-Sunday and will include new episodes of summer shows, re-runs of my fave shows1, and movies on TV

When there is nothing on TV that catches my interest, I will be catching up TV series' - White Collar, Mad Men, Justified, and possible others. Stay tuned.

#waitingsucks

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

True Blood season four premiered tonight on HBO and thanks to HBOGo I was able to see episode 2 a whole week early. And holy buckets! Those first two episodes were amazing! I'm not going to give any spoilers, but there were so many surprises and twists - for all characters! It was fantastic! So far, it is off to a damn good start. The only bad part now is having to wait two weeks  for the third episode. The hashtag that has been used since last season's finale is still in effect - #waitingsucks. Though I'm glad to have a new season, waiting for each episode is torture!

Here is my favorite HBO/True Blood commercial. It is from last Christmas, but if you've seen even one episode of True Blood, you will think it is as hilarious as me!

I Can't Wait For...Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

So another quick post today. This popped up on my Twitter feed today and I was pretty stoked.

"Emma Stone Takes Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" via Comingsoon.net

I was really bummed when Natalie Portman had to bow out of the lead role and take on just a executive producer position, but this makes up for it!

Here is what the article said:

"Emma Stone has taken the leading role in Craig Gillespie's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Variety reports.

Emma Stone will take over for the originally-rumored Natalie Portman, who remains on board the project as a producer. The film, based on Seth Grahame-Smith's re-interpretation of Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, features the literary heroine Elizabeth Bennet (Stone) up against hordes of ravenous zombies.

Stone is the first confirmed cast member for the project, which has been scripted by Grahame-Smith and Marti Noxon. She will next appear in Disney's The Help and will play Gwen Stacy in next summer's The Amazing Spider-Man."

Working at the Video Store

So for a few months this summer I will be earning a little extra money working at a local privately owned video store.  The perks of this job are that I am around what I love most...movies and television shows.  So of course I always take home a few here and there to keep me busy while I live in my apartment alone these last few month (Side note: my roommate is living in Washington D.C. for 6 weeks for an internship).

Anyway, my past few rentals have included: The Eagle, Gnomeo and Juliet, and [an oldy] Freaks and Geeks.

The Eagle: In Roman-ruled Britain, a young Roman soldier (Channing Tatum) endeavors to honor his father's memory by finding his lost legion's golden emblem.

Sadly, I didn't enjoy this movie as much as I thought I would. I love period/past movies, but there was absolutely no romance in the movie.

Gnomeo and Juliet: A retelling of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, in a never-before done twist.

Freaks and Geeks 1999
I loved this movie! So adorable. And I love the fact that despite it's G-rating, animated movies always add in that bit of adult-humor that only adults would get.

Freaks and Geeks: A television show about two unique groups of teenagers dealing with life in a Michigan high school during the 80's.

Have not started this yet, so I have no thoughts on it, but I am really "geeked" about watching it, as it takes place in my home state and has my current crush, James Franco, in it.

Oh San Diego, why do you have to be so far away?

This post will just be a quick oh-em-gee mixed with a little woe-is-me moment -

So my twitter feed blew up this afternoon with tweets from my various television peeps I follow - these include online entertainment writers and publicists - with the....dun dun dun duh...Warner Bros. TV Comic-Con 2011 Announcement.  Now me being a huge fan of Warner Bros. TV, especially The CW Network, I was both excited and saddened. This announcement included the subhead: 29 DAYS, 23 HOURS, 15 MINUTES AND COUNTING…WARNER BROS. TELEVISION GROUP ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE FOR COMIC-CON INTERNATIONAL: SAN DIEGO.

Oh San Diego, why do you have to be so far away?

In 29 Days, 23 Hours, 15 Minutes and Counting, my two favorite tv shows will be featured at Comic-Con 2011 - SUPERNATURAL and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES.  And to top it all off....
  • “Supernatural”: Series stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles will topline the panel, held this year for the first time ever in Hall H. Additional cast members and executive producers to be announced.
  • “The Vampire Diaries”: Stars Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Ian Somerhalder, Candice Accola and Joseph Morgan join executive producers/writers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec

My two favorite shows and my favorite casts at the same place, at the same time, talking about my favorite things.  And. I. Won't. Be. There.

Okay, I got my venting out for the day. I mean, who knows right. I still have 29 days to turn this around.

Wish me luck!
