Fall 2012 TV Preview - PaleyFest

The Paley Center for Media has been putting on a Fall version of their "PaleyFest" in these "Fall TV Preview Parties" that feature screenings of this Fall's new pilots, and a few panels with the cast and crew of a few of the shows. Last week were the panels for NBC, CBS, and The CW, and will finish this week with Fox and ABC.

NBC's pilot screenings included The New Normal (with a panel of the show's cast), Go On, Revolution, Animal Practice, Chicago Fire, and Guys with Kids. A lot of these new shows you can actually watch online already via Hulu or iTunes. I actually saw Revolution before the panel and really enjoyed it. You can watch it here. The New Normal was also pretty good, so I think I'll keep watching that for a few episodes at least. Animal Practice was my absolutely LEAST favorite. Chicago Fire was just okay, but I'll probably stick with it (hopefully it gets better) - it's definitely a Dick Wolf show though. I didn't stay for Guys with Kids, but it doesn't seem like my cup of tea anyway.

CBS's screened episodes of Partners (with a panel of the show's cast), Elementary, Vegas, and Made in Jersey. I'll definitely be tuning in this fall for the first two shows. You could tell Partners was made by the team behind Will and Grace, but I think that's a good thing. Elementary was great too, so I hope to continue seeing great things from it.

The screening followed a panel with Stephen Amell and the EP's for the show. In case you didn't know already, Stephen is a perfect human being. PERFECT. Can't wait for more episodes - and so glad it's paired with Supernatural on Wednesday nights this fall. Wednesday nights are now going to be my favorite night of the week. Other pilots screened were Emily Owens, M.D.(which, honestly, wasn't as bad as I thought, though definitely won't be my favorite show. It was basically like an extremely watered down Grey's Anatomy), and Beauty and the Beast. B&B was not the best show by any means, but I can tell its definitely a show I will like. I like that kind of stuff. Though I probably shouldn't get too invested because I fear it will be one of the first shows The CW cancels (we'll see after a few more episodes).

Fox's panel will be on Monday with previews of The Mindy Project, Ben and Kate, and The Mob Doctor. Honestly, I'm not looking forward to any of these. ABC's will be on Tuesday with Scandal, Malibu Country, The Neighbors, and Nashville. Really bummed that 666 Park Avenue and Last Resort won't be screening, especially since I know 666 did at the NY preview. I am looking forward to Nashville though.
